Thomas,

Already restored symbolic link and configured network using
/etc/network/interfaces, and everything is now working correctly.

Initially, I did not use the /etc/network/interfaces file to configure my
network interfaces. Since I had installed the desktop GUI, I had used the
network GUI application that came bundled with the install. This
application enabled me to define my static IPs (for both of my network
cards), DNS servers, network mask, and gateway similiar to the way a
Windows Server would. (I am running on a DMZ using NAT through my
SonicWall).

I'm not certain if the way I had initially configured it plays a role here.
However, I now decided to just configure the /etc/network/interfaces file
instead.

Bug description:
  Just upgraded from 11.04 to ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and lost the capability
  to resolve names on the system. There were no problems indicated
  during the install, however after the install performed the reboot, I
  have not been able to resolve any domain names. My network cards all
  have my ISP's DNS configured as they were prior to the install. but
  still unable to resolve domains. Is this a known problem? Does anyone
  have an idea what the problem might be?
