Title:
Ubuntu 12.04 desktop failed to shutdown when using command line

Status in “upstart” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have been using Ubuntu for years. I run Ubuntu on my notebook which
is Gateway T-6835. I must say that Ubuntu provides me with great
experience since 10.04, recently I have upgraded to 12.04. It works
great on my notebook though. One problem encounters me with every
version Ubuntu I have tried. The problem is that, in the graphic
environment, whenerver I tried to shutdown my computer using command
"shutdown +now" in the terminal, it always failed to. I don't if this
problem happens with other users, really hope the developer could find
a solution to this problem with next verision of Ubuntu.
