Actually anyone dual booting with windows7 will have this. If you have
windows7 and want to upgrade to SP1 you can't upgrade if the MBR is grub.

Whilst it may be more of a lacking feature than a bug it will also be
necessary for windows 8 and the new boot requirements.

Title:
Ubuntu install fails if grub installed to /boot

Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in “grub” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
If you manually parition your hard drive on a dual boot computer in a
  manner such as

  /dev/sda1 - windows files(os)
  /dev/sda2 - windows
  /dev/sda3 - windows
  /dev/sda4 extended partition
  /dev/sda5 linux swap
  /dev/sda6 ext4 /boot
  /dev/sda6 ext4 /
  /dev/sda7 ext4 /home

The you install ubuntu and choose to install grub to /boot rather than
sda (MBR) the ubuntu install fails to find grub and boot after the
  installation completes.
