Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Title:
  [Errno 30] Read-only file
  system:'/target/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-17-generic

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Ubuntu installer repeatedly crashes when trying to copy the kernel
image. The exact error message is:

The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk:

  [Errno 30] Read-only file
  system:'/target/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-17-generic

This is often due to a faulty hard disk. It may help to check whether
the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system
  to a cooler environment.

I tried shrinking the root partition in case some part of the disk was
faulty, but so far that didn't help.
