Title:
  Public_html not there by default

Status in “base-files” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hardy 8.4 (alpha)

  Expected to happen:
That I can save my HTML files in a folder, public_html, directly when I start my computer for the first time.

It took long time to find out, and without friends I would not have
started web-developing for a long time on Ubuntu if it was not for
  them.

What happens is that you sit there with your beautiful Ubuntu and ask
yourself "Hmm... where do I save my html files for localhost?". And
the answer is, no - there is no such place, you have to create it and
to find that information is way too difficult.

It should be, like on the mac, a public_html folder directly under my
home folder. It took me 5 hours, just to get going with web
  development! Insane.
