Title:
LiveCD execution of 12.04.1 hangs forever

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I downloaded the latest Ubuntu 12.04.1 (amd64) distribution ISO,
burned it successfully onto a CD, and tried booting it. It booted and
came to the screen where it asks if you want to install or just "try"
(run from CD/memory). I selected try.

The CD was accessed for awhile, but then after awhile it just stopped
and the same initial dialog box was still just sitting there in the
middle of the screen. It has been like that for over 30 minutes now,
and I don't think it is going to change.

Needless to say, this sucks. I can't even run the bleedin' thing!

  Hardware is:

AMD Athlon 64 model 1640B cpu
  MSI K9VGM-V motherboard
  2GB ram
--NO-- hard disk (I shouldn't need one if I am just running from the CD/memory, right?)
  Lite-On SOHW-1673S CD/DVD burner
  LG GH22NS50 CD/DVD burner
  ATI X600 graphics card

There is nothing else in the system... no other cards or anything.

Seriously, WTF? I never had any previous versions of Ubuntu choke on
  me like this.

Sigh. I guess that I have no choice now but to scrounge around and
try to find a spare drive so that I can do an actual install. I
*really* didn't want to have to do that, but I guess the bug, whatever
it is, is kind-of forcing me to.
