Did you boot from the CD? executing ubiquity from normal machine is not
supported and will not lead to any sensible results.

Bug description:
Attempting an installation by running an up-to-date quantal system,
installing ubiquity, using the gtk frontend and then attemptint to
install to another hard disk than the current system. The installer
crashes immeadiately when it should begin showing the slideshow.
