Title:
Ubuntu 12.10 beta 2 disc fails to load properly

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I start the live disc Ubuntu starts, but after a while the screen
becomes garbled (like 1000 ants, I could not make any screen shots).
The dock and the Dash loads. There is no mouse pointer and the screen
is garbled. After a while Ubuntu freezes and I have to make a hard
  reboot.

If I try to install without the live session the screen becomes
garbled after a short while, the installation process never starts and
  the computer freezes like above.

The live session and installation works if I edit the kernel with
nomodeset and after installation edit again with nomodeset and install
the proprietary drivers for the graphic card. After that Ubuntu starts
  properly after reboot.

The machine have worked with every *buntu since at least 8.04 so this
  is a regression.

  Hardware:
  AMD 9650 quad-core
  Nvidia GT 120 1GB
