  Upgrade to v12 from v11 failed to boot.

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I attempted to allow the automatic upgrade from the Ubuntu update
  package.  I was running v11 of Ubuntu and regularly update.  I
  accepted the prompt to upgrade to 12.04 LTS.  The upgrade took 3
  hours, and the outcome was a failure to reboot.  I am now attempting
  to recover from a USB backup.
