Sorry Phillip,
I apparently was to eager to answer you immediately and I did not excute
your test on the correct machine apparently. I'm currently away from
home for one week. I'll check back on the RAID machine ASAP.

Title:
Grub does not access /boot/grub under fakeraid
Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
After the last update of grub-pc under oneiric beta, I could not reboot and fell under grub rescue mode.
The only accessible disc under grub rescue 'ls' was (hd0), claimed to be of 'unknown filesystem'. A reboot under a natty
rescue disc shows that all disk partitions are fine and SATA raid partitions can be mounted. After a chroot,
update-grub did not help. addind raid and mdraid09 in the PRELOAD modules did not either.
