When reporting bugs it is important to provide as much detail as
possible. You said that you do not get a grub menu, but what DOES
happen when you try to boot?

Title:
GRUB fails to install on a LVM system with separate /boot

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The installed Ubuntu uses LVM and has the lvm2 package installed. When
installing grub-pc from chroot (via Boot-Repair, see
  http://paste.ubuntu.com/1287914 ), grub-install gives no error, and
update-grub gives File descriptor errors. After reboot, GRUB menu does
  not appear.
