Matthew,

Are you seeing this yourself, or is this gathered from the experiences
of others? I ask because that dialog should only appear if apport-gtk is
not installed, which would not be the case for Ubuntu installation
media.

  Once an "The application 'Install Ubuntu' has closed unexpectedly"
  alert <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker#app-crash> appears for
  Ubiquity crashes, the custom "Installer crashed" alert

  should no longer appear.
