Thanks a lot for looking into this so quickly, Steve.
First of all: I'm sorry, I made a spelling error. The error message says
"/dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root" and not "/dev/mapper-vgubuntu-root". So this
is not the source of the problem.
I tried booting using the 3.2.0-32 kernel. The strange thing is: I got
the error message but can now use the system nevertheless. As a
temporary solution, this is already great, thanks.
To find a permanent solution: Is it a good idea to run "update-initramfs
-u -k all" or do I risk loosing the working initramfs for the 3.2
kernel? How can I track down the problem further?
Thanks again for your help! (Yesterday, I was a bit angry at Ubuntu, now
I think you're great :) )

Title:
/scripts/local/cryptroot can't find /dev/mapper/vgubuntu-root
Status in “cryptsetup” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I upgraded my netbook from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and now it won't boot.
It is encrypted using cryptsetup and a LVM with a sperate home partition, that means 4 partitions in total:
- /dev/sda1 unencrypted, mounted to /boot
- /dev/sda2 encrypted as lukslvm containing vgubuntu-root (/), vgubuntu-home (/home) and swap
After I've typed in my password, I get the following error message:
/scripts/local/cryptroot: line 1: can't open /dev/mapper-vgubuntu-root: no such file
Then, some other processes are started but at some point everything
just stops and I don't get to a working system.
I appreciate any kind of help. My computer simply doesn't work at all
so I'd be glad if this could be solved soon. Thanks.
