  I have a ccorrupted upgrade to 12.10 how do I fix

Status in “grub” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I upgraded to 12.10 today and it was corrupted.  Iam even on-line
  through a file on my Desktop I opened with fireFox.  I downloaded it
  again at the library and have it on usb but can't use it to boot.  I
  am booting I belive with an older grub.  I can't rember the version I
  used to boot.  So Maybe a frsh install off the disc if I could make it
  bootable?
