Everytime I opt VMWare Easy Install for Quantal, this problem pops up.
This has happened with Quantal Beta 1 as well. I can login, though.

  vmware 4.1.1.  probably 12.04beta is too new, but I just wanted to report that the ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 installation dies in a non-graphical window that asks to wait until the vmware easy install (of the vmware tools) completes (when it is supposed to launch the GUI), but it never does complete.  thus, one cannot boot into a GUI, even after a reboot.
