This bug also affects me on Ubuntu 12.04. Any ideas why this occurs?
Seems to be a linking issue...

  Cannot load librt.so

Status in “gcc-defaults” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librt.so: could not read symbols: Invalid
  operation

  error occurs while building with g++. Similarly cannot load shared
  object files in Python (OSError occurs when importing the pacakages).
