Title:
Turn %s strings back into $foo or {foo} strings
Status in gettext:
Unknown
Status in “computer-janitor” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: computer-janitor
Bug 621723 complains that the new PEP 3101 style format strings, i.e.
{foo} cause problems for translators because gettext, and thus
Launchpad, do not recognize these strings. This means that the
content checking currently done for %(foo)s strings would not be done,
and UI can break. %s strings are horrible and must die, but they
can't until gettext and LP support the new formats. dpm (David
Planella) will file an upstream bug on that.
