Sep 20 09:03:47 ubuntu ubiquity: Failed to symbolic-link /boot/initrd.img-3.5.0-15-generic to initrd.img:File exists at /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-3.5.0-15-generic.postinst line 614.  
    message was present on a failed desktop preseed based installation for quantal desktop installations ( 20120920 both amd64 and i386)

There was also a message before the above one saying
'ubuntu ubiquity: Setting capabilities for gnome-keyring-daemon using Linux Capabilities failed.' that may be also of interest.
