Charles,

The plymouth error you were shown is unrelated to the problem you had
uninstalling gnome. Since the problem you're reporting is about the
gnome desktop not being uninstalled, I think you want to report this bug
elsewhere - but I don't know where. What tool did you use to uninstall
gnome? If it was from the commandline, what command did you run?

The crash that the system prompted you about was a plymouth crash, but
that's entirely unrelated to the gnome issue. I've manually grabbed a
backtrace for the plymouth crash here:

(gdb) bt full

Because ddebs.ubuntu.com does not include powerpc debug symbols,
however, this is not an actionable bug report on plymouth.

Title:
Failed removal of gnome desktop environment - plymouth error

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I had a working install of lubuntu 13.04, and thought I'd try
installing gnome to see how it ran on my computer.

I couldn't login at startup, so I went into terminal and logged in
there. Did sudo apt-get remove gnome, then autoclean. Then startx
brought me to gnome desktop (i thought I uninstalled), and this is the
  first error that popped up.
