Thank you for the workarround.

Can you provide the excatly command or commands workflow you have used.
That may be helpfull to user users that might run in this issue. At best
in a style that they could more or less directly copy and paste.

  i got this  error message durine the pre-installation tasks to migrate
  ubuntu from 12.10 to 13.04:

  "After your package information was updated the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore.
  This indicates a serious error, please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."
