** Description changed:

I had under Lucid packages installed for Daniel Richter's grub-
customizer & Mario Guererio's plymouthmanager ppa's. After upgrade from
Lucid to Precise all OK & booting in under 1 minute. Suddenly, boot
takes about 3 minutes with display stuck on BIOS screen but without IOS
being interruptible using F2/Del/F12 keys. I never previously saw &
don't now see boot splash screen, even though I've now changed to a
splash screen (amended one from those in /usr/share/images/boot/ by
changing its resolution to 800x600 which matches grub-customizer's
settings) created by package grub-splashimages. I've removed plymouth-
manager package & corresponding ppa but it made no difference.
