Thanks! I used the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator from the corrupt drive to
create a new boot media and was able to install quantal.

Title:
Installer for Ubuntu 12.10 fails with some apt-get cd install issue?
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have tried installing ubuntu 12.10 now twice on my laptop. The first
time, I got the same error message along the lines of what is listed
in the summary, but it just said installation was complete. I had a
grub rescue error, so I tried the live USB again (made by unetbootin).
This time, I got the error message, but the installation terminated. I
probably should just redownload the iso file, as I have successfully
installed ubuntu on this laptop in the past (including quantal).
