I don't know but there is no automated closing for bugs (yeah if you set
the bug incomplete and nobody answers then after 60 days the bug is
expired, but you can reopen it as far as I know).

I work as a volunteer, and I close this bug now.

Thank you very much for taking time to reply so fast.

Title:
acpid eventually stops getting acpi events on hardy

Status in “acpid” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: acpid

This started happening after I upgraded my laptop to
1.0.4-5ubuntu9/hardy, it was working on the prior release I had.

Problem is that acpid randomly stops getting acpi events from the
laptop. What happens is that eventually I would close my lid, and the
laptop would not go to sleep. After I re-opened the lid, if I
restarted apcid, then it would go to sleep as many times as it missed
  lid events.

I have currently successfully worked around the problem with:
  1 * * * * root find /var/log -mmin -240 -name acpid | grep -q acpid || /etc/init.d/acpid restart

The problem is somewhat serious since the laptop not going to sleep
when the lid is closed and thrown in a backpack not only kills the
battery, but can also severely heat up the laptop depending on what
  thermal protection it has.

If I can gather some info on the stuck acpid before I restart it, let
  me know.
