Interestingly, when this error message first appeared, chromium
complained that it could not be run as root unless I set up a new
profile.

But at the same time, a launchpad log-in page opened in Firefox and it
is from there that I am commenting on this bug report.

I am going to try living dangerously, and to delete manually
/boot/initrd.img-3.8.0-19-generic, sincce it appears to be generated
frequently by post-installation scripts.

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  in the middle of the upgrade i got the messege - "the upgrade will
  continue but the wlinux-image-3.8.0-19-generic package may not be
  working state". and in the white window - "subprocess installed post-
  installation script returned error exit status 2".
