Title:
default keyboard for English not correct

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
This is not so much a bug as a design fault but a fairly annoying one
and one that was present for 11.04 and now 11.10 as well.

The problem is simple...the first step of the install is to select language. All good and well. I choose English.
But then the installer stupidly assumes you are using a standard US English keyboard. I am not. I am using a Spanish keyboard because my laptop was not bought in the US.

The problem is when you then go to manually partition your hard drive.
You can't enter "/" unless you copy paste it or can remember which key
it is on a US keyboard.

Then to rub salt in the wound the page letting you select keyboard is
at the end of the installer.

I don't know who designed the order of the pages but they need to
learn that keyboard selection needs to follow language.
