  usb.ids and pci.ids are very outdated

Status in “usbutils” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  usb.ids and pci.ids are very outdated on Ubuntu (I know as I
  contributed hundreds of usb.ids).

  Possible solutions :
  1) update pci.ids and usb.ids for every maintained release of Ubuntu
  OR
  2) Add a cron job that does the update (update-usbids and update-pciids), see http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/15641/
