I agree. With Kubuntu and Ubuntu installed, my Grub menu looks like
this:
Ubuntu
Advanced options for Ubuntu
Memory test (memtest86+)
Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) (14.04)
Advanced options for Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) (14.04)
"Ubuntu" is Ubuntu Trusty Tahr.
"Ubuntu Trusty Tahr" is Kubuntu Trusty Tahr.
The submenu for "Advanced options for Ubuntu Trusty Tahr" has entries that say "Kubuntu".

Title:
wrong lsb id in kubuntu - karmic
Status in “lsb” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: lsb
lsb_release -i
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
I think in Kubuntu it should print Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu. The
problem is obvious when I use Ubuntu and Kubuntu with grub2. Grub
attempt to generate menu entries based on lsb id and if i have
installed both *buntu the entries are the same and i cannot
distinct(by name) which is Ubuntu and which is Kubuntu.
