Title:
ntfs partition segfaults on "mount", but "ntfs-3g" works

Status in “util-linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mount

I am dual-booting windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10, (using the windows
bootloader). Both operating systems work fine.

On boot of ubuntu, I get an error for my windows partition (which does
not appear in dmesg, and to which I cannot recall right now, but I
think it was an "unexpected exit" error), and when I try to mount it
with the mount command, i get a segmentation fault.

I have run chkdsk /f with windows, and rebooted several times. gParted
reports no error, and "checking" the partition doesn't change
  anything.

However, if I use the ntfs-3g program to mount instead of "mount", I
can successfully mount the partition with no error.

This problem existed in Ubuntu 10.04 too.
