Same behaviour observed in installer with 13.10 usb boot media and Sony
Vaio Pro 13 (i7, 8GiB RAM, 128GiB SSD). Booting in UEFI mode, with and
without Secure boot (does not make a difference). LiveUSB runs perfectly
well, have WiFi and all working properly.
Have not partitioned and installed manually, want to sort this out
first. Partitions are visible in manual partitioning step and seem ok,
so I don't know why Ubiquity does not see the Windows 8.1 Pro OS.
Windows was upgraded from factory installed Windows 8 Pro, but I assume
that doesn't matter.

Title:
13.10 installer doesn't see pre-installed Windows 8.1
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Lenovo U410 - Windows 8.1 pre-installed, i3 proccesor, 8GB RAM, 500GB
HDD with 210 GB free for Ubuntu install.
Using Live USB drive to install, 13.04 sees the Windows partitions, (but doesn't mount them). The installer sees the Windows 8.1 installation and asks whether I want to install side by side or replace Windows.
13.10 run from a live USB however, sees the Windows partitions and can mount them, but the installer doesn't see the Windows OS at all - it just says "No OS found".
