I'm trying again now, and I get the same issues. The second program is
invoked like this:

udisks-helper-modify-partition /dev/sdb 4194304 15927345152 0x0c  boot

My /proc/partitions looks like this:

  Startup Disk Creator fails when erasing disk

Status in “usb-creator” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I am trying to erase a disk with Startup Disk Creator. The processes
  udisks-daemon and udisks-helper-m(something) run for a long time. I
  tried stracing the last one, and saw lots of these:

  write(2, "Error: ", 7)                  = 7
  write(2, "Can't have a partition outside the disk!\n", 41) = 41
  write(2, "new_size=15927345152 but resulting size, 15926820864, smaller than requested", 76) = 76
  write(2, "\n", 1)                       = 1

  Then the processes disappeared, and I got a popup window:

  System program problem detected
  Do you want to report the problem now?

  I click that I want to report the problem, after which I have to enter my root password, and then I finally get the error:

  Sorry, the program "udisks-daemon" closed unexpectedly
  Your computer does not have enough free memory to automatically analyse the problem  and send a report to the developers.

  I have 8GB of RAM on my laptop, and I'm not using it for anything else
  right now. This seems to be a major flaw with ubuntu-bug as well, I'm
  unable to report bugs because of bugs. It should always fall back to
  sending what it can.
