Title:
AMD driver install fails silent when missing linux-headers-generic

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When installing the "fglrx-updates" driver for AMD graphics hardware,
from the "Additional Drivers" tab of "Software Sources", the install
seems to succed, but after reboot, the window manager is not able to
start. If one installs "linux-headers-generic" by apt-get before
installing the graphics driver, it seems to work fine.
