Title:
Ubuntu 12.04.1 crash in installer on VirtualBox
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I was installing ubuntu 12.04.1 (32 bit version time time, but I had
the same problem with the 64 bit version) on a virtual machine in
Oracle's VirtualBox (version 4.2.6).
My VM's specs:
1024 MB RAM
12 MB video memory
32 GB Hard drive
I downloaded the image from www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop the image
name was ubuntu-12.04.1-desktop-i386.iso it was 695.29MB in size.
I picked: install, selected to pick updates while installing. Did NOT
pick to install third-party software.
It was confirmed that yes, I have at least 4.4GB of drive space, yes I
was connected to the internet, yes I was connected to a power source.
I picked to Erase disk and install.
I installed on /dev/sda which is a ext4 file system.
I picked the new york time zone and English keyboard layout.
Installer reports:
"Installer crashed. We're sorry; the installer crashed. After you
close this window we'll allow you to file a bug report using the
integrated bug reporting tool."
Last thing it says it's doing:
"Removing extra packages..."
