grub 1.x (the version of grub that uses menu.lst) is deprecated.  In all
possible cases, recent versions of Ubuntu will install grub2 instead.
No further feature development should be expected for the old update-
grub.

  Something like this in menu.lst to allow memtest entries to be locked
  like recovery and old kernels.

  ## should update-grub lock memtest boot options
  ## e.g. lockmemtest=true
  ##      lockmemtest=false
  # lockmemtest=true
