on boot usb image shows in boot menu as uefi option and non-uefi option
selecting non-uefi option will not boot livecd - 12.04.1 boots using this method
selecting uefi boots too live environment allowing install - upon reboot no grub menu available and system boots windows
the system has mbr ssd and hdd, none are gpt partitioned
marked against ubiquity as I do not know what causes the issue.
It has been replicated on another machine using the same asus motherboard but revision 2

  New

Bug description:
  asus M5A97 PRO amd motherboard with uefi bios - non secure boot
  amd fx-6100 ocz vertex 4 128GB ssd 12GB ddr3 1600mhz
  attempted install of 12.04.2 ubuntu 64 bit via usb made using pendrive
  on boot selecting usb in non-uefi mode results in a beep and non boot of option
  selecting uefi mode reaches desktop allowing install - reboot boots straight to windows with no grub menu, install was to sda which is an ssd with standard msdos mbr
  previously 12.04.1 boots in non uefi mode without issue

  replicated on friends system with an asus M5A97 R2.0 with uefi bios
