As shown in <http://mterry.name/log/2013/01/22/software-updater-changes-
in-ubuntu-13-04/>, the interface has been streamlined, but not in the
way you described. There is no longer a "Check" button or a "Close"
button. There is no room for "Details of updates" to go alongside
"Remind Me Later" and "Install Now", because there's a "Settings..."
button in the way.

** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Invalid

Title:
  Streamline interface

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  Why not put the "Description of update" hide/show text on the same
  line as the [Check] and [Install Updates] buttons? Even better, put
  those buttons on the bottom with [Close]. Also better: instead of a
  hide/show option, just make the description area resizeable.
