This bug has been unreproducible since then, so I'm going to go ahead an
close it. It looks like it could have been an isolated incident due to
some infrastructure issue. If it happens again, we can try to see if
there's any pattern.

Bug description:
  dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:

   unable to fsync updated status of `apache2.2-common': Input/output
  error

  Error in function:

  SystemError: E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

   occurs during quantal to raring upgrade with the following server
  tasks

  grub-pc
  python-apt
  python-gnupginterface
  dns-server^
  lamp-server^
  mail-server^
  openssh-server^
  postgresql-server^
  print-server^
  samba-server^

  The automated test setup does the following
  1. Create a quantal base image using ubuntu-vm-builder, for amd64, and the above packages additionally
  2. Upgrade it to raring release using do-release-upgrade
