Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in grub2.

Title:
install fails: can't find grub-xpats
Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Install from the DVD of ubuntu 12.04
Have 4 HDDs in a fairly vanilla desktop machine that worked perfectly
fine with Lucid Lynx.
/dev/sda -- root, /var, /usr, swap, /home
/dev/sdb,c,d: a 2-TB Raid array. This was not configured at install time.
Install went fine. I'm not happy that it downloaded from the
"nearest" mirror however and I didn't have a chance to say otherwise
(except perhaps to pull the plug on the internet connection). My
issue here is that I live in China and don't trust the servers here.
In any case, after all the software was installed andupdated, the DVD
medium was ejected and the machine rebooted. It got to the grub
loader and then had the fatal error that grub-xpats could not be
found.
I am now reinstalling the system using the "alternate" CD so I can't
reproduce or provide more details on error message. Sorry!
