  auto updates dont work

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  i cant download software from ubuntu and it says this

  'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
  MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/au.archive.ubuntu
  .com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_universe_i18n_Translation-en, E:The
  package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

  and it says to report it against update manager
