I'd would have liked to use it on a package i've 'enhanced' for a exult daily build here:
https://code.launchpad.net/~exult-team/+archive/exult-daily
The issue is that the package asks the user the first time for the
location of the games, so it can copy them into their lsb appropriate
dirs (for various, obvious reasons).
This stuff is then validated, and that is painful, but the RFE is mostly
about the graphical filechooser (though in this case it's 'directory'
chooser). This because *that* is painful for the *users*

Title:
RFE: add a new File debconf template type
Status in “debconf” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
This would be nice so that users could use the system filechooser on graphical mode, and have tab completion on text mode, rather than writing a freeform string.
The 'file doesn't exist yet' usecase should be usable, too, so i guess GUI mode still needs a text field, but most filechoosers have those (haven't seen one without yet on linux).
A simple validation that the thing is indeed a validfile name would be
nice too, at least for the CLI-mode.
