  Maverick Kubuntu amd64 DVD d-i install can't find installable kernel

Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: debian-installer

  Doing some DVD ISO testing using the Alpha 3 DVD image for Kubuntu
  amd64 for Maverick.

  Performing the d-i installation test and that fails while doing the
  base install part of the d-i process.

  The error message is: "The installer cannot find a suitable kernel to
  install."

  the last couple lines in syslog are:

  base-installer: info: Found kernels ' '
  base-installer: error: exiting on error base-installer/kernel/no-kernels-found
