Title:
Manual Partitioning in both Ubiquity AND d-i ignores the "format"
  option first time around

Status in “partman-base” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: partman-base

I have now tried manual partitioning on BOTH Ubiquity and d-i using
the Natty build as of 2/28 (used desktop iso to try Ubiquity and
alternative ISO to try d-i). In all attempts, I chose manual
  partitioning.

I next choose /dev/sda1 as the partition I want to use as the root fs for my Natty install.
I select /dev/sda1 and choose to use it as ext4.
I make sure I choose to format the partition
I set the partition to be mounted as "/"

I then click the "Begin Install" button in Ubiquity, or choose "Done
setting up partition" and "Finish partitioning and write changes to
  disk" in d-i.

In BOTH cases, I then get a warning box asking me if I want to proceed
without formatting /dev/sda1. Even though I specifically clicked or
selected the Format option for this partition, that selection is not
  saved on the first attempt.

So, after I get the warning, I go back in and RE-SELECT the format
partition option for /dev/sda1 and proceed as normal and this time the
format option sticks and installation proceeds.

For whatever reason this only seems to happen on the first attempt at
partitioning. The second time, the issue disappears.
