Title:
  reboots at startup since dualboot

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

I have a Samsung n210 laptop configured the following way:
I have installed WinXP SP2 on an entire partition. Then, through the Ubuntu live CD, I have used Gparted to create a partition on which I have installed Ubuntu 9.10. (and also tried with Release Candidate of Ubuntu 10.04)

When I turn on my computer, Grub loads and I get the choice between
Windows XP and Ubuntu. What happens is that when I select the
operating system I want to boot on, my computer just restarts after a
second, displaying again the Grub menu. I have to select the OS again
once more before my computer decides to load it...

Also, this problem only appears when I chose to boot on the other OS
than the last load one. eg. If I always boot on Ubuntu, or if I always
boot on Windows, the problem won't appear; it'll happen if I go from
WinXP to Ubuntu or vice versa.

I have used the update-grub command hoping it would change something, but didn't work.
I don't understand why this dualboot works perfectly on my Samsung nc10 but not the n210 machine.

I have booted manually through Grub and uninstalled/Reinstalled Grub
with no success and taken my notebook through some stresstest and
  Memtest with nothing to report.

  -Chris.
