And I was using the desktop CD until that time to avoid burning multiple
cds in case this bug still existed, so I have no idea if it was fixed
before that.

  Kubuntu 8.04 alternate CD not working past initial menu

Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The RC and today's (22/4) current CD build of Kubuntu 8.04 alternate
  stops working for me when I leave the initial menu choice (ie choosing
  to install/go to text mode), meaning that the screen goes blank and
  the CD stops spinning. If "CD check" is selected, the screen blanks
  out and the CD spins up.

  I have tried turning off acpi and so on, but still blanking out the
  same way. Those things have never been a problem duing install of
  6.10, 7.04 and 7.10.

  All ISO files and burned CDs are confirmed to have correct MD5 hashes.
