[Bug 1187050] [NEW] ubuntu 13.04 installer crashed

Public bug reported:

while re-installing ubuntu 13.04 from a dvd, near the end of the
installation it says that some packages could not be reinstalled and
then the installation crashes. After a reboot it allows me to boot up
and log in to the desktop but the mouse pointer will not move and the
sidebar is not present on the desktop.

The version of the package was the AMD64 desktop image for PC.

This is on a hard drive dual booted with windows 7.
