Title:
Hardy install on FS Lifebook S7020 fails - loops back to partitioner
  step

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Using Ububtu 8.04.1 (Hardy) I experienced a problem while installing the system om my notebook FS Lifebook S7020.
During the installation wizard the partitioner starts and it presents an option to automatically set the partitions.
When I chose this option and complete the 7 steps of the wizard the installer loops back to the partitioner stage after accepting the last step (where it should start the actual installation).

I worked around this issue by starting the live system in which I
manually partitioned the drive. I started the installation again and
only created the mount points in the already partitioned drive.
Installation then completed without a problem.

Problems also arose using the alternative installer and the Kububtu
versions. Although in these cases the installation crashed somewhere
in the middle of the installation.

First I thought this to be a hardware issue, but I ran the complete
hardware test program of FS and let Ubuntu do the memory and CD-Rom
  tests. No errors were found.
