I had an error:

error: ELF header smaller than expected.
grub rescue>

I did not know how this developed.... I turned on the laptop and
suddenly it was there!

I could not get rid of it.... the laptop would not boot.  I had to
reburn a new DVD disc with

Ibuntu 13.04 from scratch and reload this into the laptop.  It overwrote
the corrupted boot up file.

I now have the fully functioning laptop again I hope?
