I was able to run a scan /dev/sdb using gparted and it resolved the
alignment issues as seen in post #2's attached screenshot.
It would be prudent and I highly reccomend building in better checking &
error message delivery to users who have issues with their GPT drives,
this would help them identify the problem they need to fix much faster.

Bug description:
My GPT partitions on one of my hard drives aren't showing up in the
installer.
I can mount them in Nautilus but the paritions aren't listed when I
select "Something Else" / Manual Partition Mode
This means I can't install the current daily without formatting my
existing /home directory.
