Title:
Install alongside another OS: Wiped other drive instead

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or
  System -> About Ubuntu

I was installing elementary OS (http://elementaryos.org)

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

The one included in elementary OS's Luna Beta 1 USB-stick installer.

  3) What you expected to happen

I did, upon choosing "Install alongside Windows 8", assume that
elementary OS would install on the same drive as Windows 8 (C:\) and
alongside Windows 8. And with not loosing files. (Which the installer
  said would be the case)

  4) What happened instead

Instead of installing it alongside Windows 8 on the C:\ drive, which I
assumed it would, it cleared out my whole backup-drive (D:\),
paritioned it and installed elementary OS there. I lost all important
files. (I managed to recover some, but not the most important ones.)

  ---

This might be a serious bug to take a look at. Loosing these files was
almost as painful as a heart-break. (Very close to it, indeed)
