It appears that you tried to install grub on /dev/sdb, which is the
flash drive you are using to install.  You need to install it to the
hard disk, which is /dev/sda.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  so I tried to update my ubuntu and overnight the upgrade failed,
  ubuntu would not let me in, I am a complete noob at this, made a SD
  installer, which failed (plus I dont think the install program is
  deleting the old partition) I am ready to bang my head against a wall
  and go buy a copy of windows!
