** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Triaged
** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)
Assignee: Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) => (unassigned)
** Description changed:
Ubuntu 11.10
During the download of the updates you can only see the progress in
numbers by checking Details -> see single packages. Not very usable if
there are a lot of packages. Wish: An indicator in the update window,
where the progress bar is, which indicates the amount of downloaded
packages in MB, the total amount of needed packages in MB, the
percentage of progress of the download and maybe even an estimated time
for the rest of the download.
+
+ <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#Installing>: "...the secondary text should be the status text for the operation."
+ <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwarePackageOperations#updating>: "While the updates are being downloaded, the status text should be “Downloaded {amount} of {total}”, or “Downloaded {amount} of {total} ({rate})” if the download rate is stable. For example, “Downloaded 15.6 MB of 131.0 MB (24 MB/s)”. "
